This course gives the student an overview of the health care industry and it’s occupations. Students will study medical terminology and the major human body systems. Other areas of study include legal/ethical issues and universal precautions. Students will learn basic skills ranging from isolation techniques to patient transfers. Students will become proficient in assessing all 4 vital signs. Training will be a combination of classroom, laboratory, and placement in local health care facilities. Students will have the opportunity to become certified in first aid and CPR. The curriculum includes the use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator).
