The course is intended for students interested in gaining basic knowledge of the principles used in common electronic devices. Electronics is a supporting knowledge for careers such as automotive technician, manufacturing technology, and several medical related careers. Lessons will combine theory lecture with some hands-on experience comprising the following competency areas: safety, soldering & circuit fabrication, scientific calculations, electronic component usage and identification, resistance, voltage, current, and power calculations, AC and DC circuit fundamentals, magnetism, principles of inductance and capacitance, basic semi-conductor devices and circuits, basic transmitters and receivers, logical devices and systems, numbering systems including binary, octal and hexadecimal.  Students will be required to assemble project package and demonstrate a working knowledge of the principles used in the package. Students are encouraged to bring in personal projects to increase their knowledge base and confidence in electronic repair.
